Angel M. DeFilippo is a partner with Arseneault & Fassett, LLC specializing in civil trial matters. She has been certified as a Civil Trial Attorney by the Supreme Court of New Jersey from 1986 to the present. Her trial experience matters include medical malpractice, automobile products liability, workplace accidents, and general personal injury. In addition, she has represented both Plaintiffs and Defendants in trials involving employment discrimination, will contests and real estate disputes.
In 2000 to 2001, Angel served as President of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America – New Jersey, now known as New Jersey Association for Justice. She has also served on the Supreme Court Committee on Civil Practice from 1992 to 2004, The Essex County Judicial Appointment Committee, and she has served as a Master of the Seton Hall Inn of Court and the Emergency Guardianship Panel.
Angel has been given the highest AV rating in Martindale-Hubbell and has been included on the New Jersey Super Lawyers list beginning in 2006. She also received the Essex County Bar Association Civil Trial Attorney Achievement Award.
Angel obtained an $8.8 million dollar verdict which was one of the top 10 verdicts in 2008. The verdict was in a medical malpractice obstetrical case. She also obtained a $3.9 million dollar verdict in a medical malpractice surgical/anesthesia case involving diverticulitis. Her numerous settlements in complex matters include a $4.14 million dollar case against Chrysler and its dealer for the Jeep Grand Cherokee exploding gas tanks.
In 2018, Angel obtained a $3.5 million verdict for a medical malpractice, delayed diagnosis, and premature discharge case which was named one of the top 20 verdicts in New Jersey. She also obtained a $2.5 million settlement for medical malpractice committed during labor and delivery, resulting in permanent neurological damage of an infant.
After achieving a B.A, with Honors from the University of Maryland, Angel completed her legal education with a JD from Seton Hall Law School.
