Jack Arseneault Attorney


Jack Arseneault has been trying cases in the Federal Court for four decades, with his first trial victory in 1980 and his last in 2018. In the intervening years, he has tried some of the most important and high-profile cases in the District of New Jersey and other federal venues. He has represented corporations; executives; financial professionals; health care providers; elected officials; doctors; lawyers; judges; accountants; and federal, state, and local police. He has tried or resolved over a thousand cases, including those alleging securities fraud, bank fraud, health care fraud, mail and wire fraud, cybercrime, political corruption, environmental offenses, espionage, RICO, use of force, and homicide.

While the majority of his practice is in the state and federal courts of New Jersey, he has also handled cases in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York as well as in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Texas, and California.

Before law school, Jack served as an infantry officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. After law school, he served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Harold A. Ackerman, United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. Following a federal clerkship, Jack joined the law firm Robinson, Wayne, and Greenberg, where he became a partner. He left that firm in 1989 to start his own boutique litigation practice with David Fassett in Chatham, New Jersey.

Since 1985, Jack has been AV Rated by Martindale-Hubbell – the highest possible peer-review rating in legal ability and ethical standards. AV is the pinnacle of professional excellence, earned through a strenuous Peer Review Rating process. He has been named a Top Rated White Collar Crimes Attorney in Chatham, NJ by Super Lawyers. Jack has been featured in The Best Lawyers in America since 1993 and is listed in the National Directory of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is a founding trustee of the Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers of New Jersey, a past trustee of the Criminal Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association, and one of the first out-of-state members admitted to the New York Council of Defense Lawyers. 

Jack is a frequent lecturer on legal issues in the business arena, particularly securities law, bank fraud, health care fraud, political corruption, and racketeering. He is often asked to lecture bar groups on trial tactics and techniques and is a repeat lecturer for the Federal Bureau of Investigation on defense perspectives in political corruption cases. He is affiliated with the International Center for Legal Studies and has been a visiting Professor at several law schools in Eastern Europe. Jack co-authored New Jersey Evidentiary Foundations, a treatise that comprehensively reviews the New Jersey Supreme Court's adoption of the Federal Rules of Evidence and provides a practical approach for trial lawyers in recognizing and applying appropriate evidentiary doctrines.
