Richard Champion (Of Counsel)

Richard is a seasoned attorney and former Certified Public Accountant, boasting more than forty-five years of expertise as a trusted tax and business advisor. Throughout his extensive career, Richard has supported numerous highly regarded criminal defense attorneys in addressing tax, business, and fraud cases. His analytical mindset, combined with his dual background in law and accounting, has laid the groundwork for a series of effective defense strategies.

His Story

Following his completion of a B.A. in economics at Fordham University, Richard pursued his J.D. at The National Law Center at George Washington University in Washington DC. During his tenure at Austin J. Doyle Jr, PC and later as an associate attorney at Tigar, Buffone & Doyle P.C., he obtained bar admissions for the District of Columbia, Maryland, and New York, along with becoming a certified Public Accountant in the District of Columbia.

With his specialized background and extensive experience, Richard has been qualified and has testified as an expert witness in taxation and/or accounting in six cases across four federal jurisdictions. Richard's primary focus in his practice revolves around civil and criminal tax controversy work, tax return compliance, and fraud auditing on behalf of attorneys and clients. He has represented clients before various courts, including the United States Tax Court, as well as numerous federal and tax agencies. Richard's adeptness in identifying complexities within financial documents makes him a valuable asset to clients and trial attorneys alike.
